After the headmasters story the group was sitting quietly
reflecting on the things they just heard. After a while it was Sarah who came
up with a question.
Sir there is one thing that doesn’t make sense, if all these
things are a secret then how do you know about it and how do you know where the
coins are?
Very clever. But then again that is the reason I decided to
promote you to the rank of a teacher. Well I guess we came this far so let me
tell you my story.
I know that there are rumours about me being older then I look and to tell you the truth I am. But unlike you would expect my story begins over 400 years ago. Back then this land was a castle and I was a knight.

Wait a sec, Alex interrupted, are we to believe that you are
over 400 years old?
Let me finish my story and you’ll understand. Then again if
you don’t shut up I’ll reconsider the idea of reprogramming your mind into that
of a street girl.
So like I was saying I was a knight under the lord of the land. He recently promoted me on my 27th birthday to head of his army due to my 10 years of faithful servant. Of course this was one of the greatest honours a man like me could get and at the same time a reason for me for great stress. For when I would fail that would mean the death of all my brothers in arms as well as my countrymen. During my duty hours I wouldn’t let anyone notice my feelings but in my spare time I was mostly by myself walking the lands stressed out by my responsibilities. One day during one of my walks I came by an old man. This man couldn’t speak or write. He was obviously hungry so I took him to a local inn. I decided to treat him to a fine dinner and a couple of good drinks. We both enjoyed each other’s company even though he couldn’t say a word. That night I took the man home and let him sleep in an empty room. But the man didn’t want to sleep. As I would later learn he was sick and dying. During his last moments he gave looked at me with a smile as if he wanted to say thanks and he gave me a golden coin. The first wishing coin I would ever see. I kept the coin on me at all times for good luck and to remind myself that even though you can’t save everyone you can at least help them.
A couple of months later I was on a routine mission patrolling the lands looking for any problems that required my assistance when I came across a well. Of course back then we were a suspicious lot seeing wishing wells and magical guides everywhere. Since my uncertainty hadn’t subsided yet I decided to make a wish. I took a coin from my pocket and threw it in the well wishing to have the knowledge and power needed to protect the lands. At that time there was a bright light coming from my other pocket which soon engulfed my entire body. Suddenly I felt my mind getting shattered and all but one of the pieces disappeared. The part that remained got filled with visions of the past as well as the future. I learned about the pirates who fell victim to the genie and the creation of the coins and I saw a future where the genie and the coins where responsible of terrible things. I knew I had to stop those things from happening and as I decided to do so my mind got filled with even more knowledge. This time I learned a lot of military tactics. This effectively made me the best military leader in the lands. As the light faded I discovered I was no longer alone. Around me there were some other men looking as confused as me. When I looked closer I discovered that these men looked exactly like me. The wish did not only fill my mind with new knowledge but it also took other aspects of my personality and made it into separate entities. As we talked amongst ourselves we soon discovered that we each had our own specialities.
There were five of us but we already knew that there were more of us. Only for some reason they weren’t with us. We decided that it would be impossible for us to all return to the castle so we spread across the lands. I kept my position as the head of the army and the king’s adviser while the others would work in their specialities. We kept in touch.
In the years that followed all of us noticed the same. We were no longer aging. For most men a reason for distress but I realised that we needed to be around to stop the coming disaster. At that time the king was getting old and he was forced to relinquish his rule to an heir. Unfortunately he only had 1 daughter before he lost his wife to the plague. Back then a woman could not rule and the only way his daughter could rule was if she got married. But she wasn’t even engaged yet. So together with her father she came to the conclusion that she needed to marry a strong leader. Her name was Myranda and she became my first wife. Years passed and I didn’t age a single day. To make sure that our people wouldn’t blame us of witchery my wife and I decided to keep me indoors. Eventually we got children of our own who would take our place as the rulers of the lands.
As time passed it became painfully clear to me that Myranda wouldn’t live as long as I would and almost 40 years after I made the wish she died.
The centuries passed and our lands merged with the rest of the country. All that remained was a musty old castle which no one remembered. My brothers and I decided to tear it down and we build the collectors base to effectively hunt for the coins. At this time we dropped our original name and changed it into our titles. That’s how I became the headmaster.

Sarah looked at the headmaster and said: I thought you
looked familiar, the guy who trained me. He was one of your other selves.
That’s right but we prefer to think of each other as
brothers. Even though we look the same we have changed quite a lot over the
centuries.
Shelly asked: So how many of you are there?
We don’t know. We know of 6 at the moment but we’re pretty
sure that there are more. Right now there are 4 active here in the base. I’m
one, then there is Sarah teacher called the commander, down in the basement we
have the professor and coins is number four she used to go by the name the
rebel.
Now it’s been enough of a story time. I think we all should go to bed. In the morning we’ll decide on what to do with this situation.

The trio left the office but before Alex stepped through the
door she asked the headmaster: So when are we getting paid?
The headmasters face turned from calm immediately back to
angry as he yelled: Pay you for what? For breaking mission protocol, for
returning to base wish melons stuck to your chest, for forcing us to clean up
your mess! Be glad you still have your mind!
And with that Alex quickly ran out of the office.
